During Volunteer Awareness Week we are focusing on building, strengthening and creating awareness of the value of volunteering in our communities. So start to think of how you can join another organisation or initiate an activity that will promote “volunteer awareness.”

The focus for the week is on youth. If an interest and understanding of the diversity of volunteering and the impact such actitives could have on people’s life, begins early, there will be less alienation and more community cohesion within our society.

Volunteering New Zealand, with the Office of the Community and Voluntary Sector and Volunteer Wellington is planning ways  to promote nation-wide but at local levels. There are lots of promotional tools available  for groups who  want to use posters, certificates and ballons. These can be ordered by emailing office@volunteeringnz.org.nz

Forums are being held to celebrate Volunteer Awareness Week organised by Volunteer Hutt and Volunteer Porirua in association with their local councils. For more information  with date, venues and topics will be coming shortly. The Nikau Foundation Corporate Challenge finale in Wellington will be held at the premises of KPMG. The date for this is Thursday 18 June.
