A colleague from Work and Income stated recently ‘we live lin interesting times.’ We agree entirely.
The economic recession is demanding new approaches, new life styles, new coping mechanisms.
Like all Volunteer Centres throughout New Zealnd – there are 16 in total – the increases in numbers of volunteer seekers coming through our offices during recent months, are astonishing. Many are unemployed. Many are not – they’re thinking about life work balance, ways to explore possible career changes and ways of contributing when so many others are needing the services of the community and voluntary sector.
Therefore we at Volunteer Wellington are looking forward to our Annual General Meeting on Monday 27 July 2009 at 5 pm. This is a time to celebrate a successful year; to reflect and to re-energise for the year ahead. More details about the programme for the evening later.
