Picture 1: Holding on to who you are in your new home can be lonely and frightening. Volunteering blends friendship, tradition – new belonging

Picture 2: Engaging with one another is part of our pasts, our present and our hope for the future; a volunteering mentoring programme with refugee communities.

Picture 3: We learn to dance in Porirua celebrating the movement between two worlds, our heritage, OUR NOW. Volunteering flows rhythmically through every part of our lives.

These photographs taken by Branka Cicak will be among a wonderful range of illustrations to be included in a book to be published later in the year by Volunteer Wellington and called Stories of Engagement between mentors and refugee communities.
