A recent recession buster meeting in Porirua was held to discuss ways in which people can find better ways to budget during the recession. Agencies like Porirua Budget Service and Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) are there to help out. WINZ Porirua have employed 6 extra staff to help out with the increasing numbers of people seeking assistance.
When job seeking, much support is needed from family members, friends and local organisations. This is where Volunteer Porirua and other volunteer centres can assist you and put you in touch with local organisations whom are looking for people to help out with a wide variety of roles. This gives you opportunities to gain additional skills or upgrade your existing skills.
Some of the recent requests for help Volunteer Porirua has received require highly specialised skills, for example I.T. & computing, finance & accounting, social work and P.R. and communication work. By volunteering to use your skills, community based organisations can increase the efficiency and reach of their work. There are benefits here for the organisation, the community and the you, the volunteer! So don’t delay & get in touch with your local Volunteer Centre today!
