For the next few weeks are running a series of features on the Employees In The Community volunteering projects, starting this week with the University of Otago, who volunteered for a day to contribute to a campaign that was run by the National Heart Foundation.

As part of the 2009 Nikau Foundation Corporate Challenge, staff from the Wellington campus of Otago University handing out information to passers-by on Lambton Quay, promoting a campaign to Stop Smoking.  The campaign was run by the National Heart Foundation and was part of overall research being carried out by the University.  As new Business Friends of Volunteer Wellington, the five Otago University staff members have helped spread the word about the benefits of being Smoke-Free.

The 2009 Nikau Foundation Corporate Challenge finished in June, and the Employees in the Community programme is open to Business Friends of Volunteer Wellington throughout the year.

Do you know – the Bank of New Zealand is planning a Nationwide programme on the 4th November called, ‘Closed For Good‘. All their staff will be involved in volunteering in the community on that day.
