Volunteer Wellington endorses community events – heres one of them!
Refugees Services Aotearoa, New Zealand presents:
The Voice Art’s World Refugee Day Radio Project
This project offers a unique opportunity for a group of young people (16-29years) with refugee backgrounds to be guided through the process of creating, developing and producing their own radio stories for a national audience. The stories will be fictional but can be influenced by the participant’s own personal experiences.
Each piece will be 14 minutes long (approximately 3000 words) and will be broadcast on Radio New Zealand National in the week leading up to World Refugee Day 2010. The foundation of this project will be individual workshops designed to facilitate new forms of self-expression and to support the creative process.
In between workshops the participant and facilitator will be in regular email contact to exchange ideas. Participants will be encouraged to voice their own work and workshops will be provided to develop vocal skills. All on air work will be remunerated.
This project runs from September 2009 – Jan 2010.
